Week 5
I decided to concentrate on developing my design concepts, aiming to lay a solid foundation for the adaptive clothing project. I started with some initial sketches, exploring basic garment designs to get my creative process going
These early drafts were simple, focusing more on aesthetics rather than function, as I wanted to experiment with different styles before diving deeper into the specifics of adaptive features.
the primary goal of this assignment is to create clothing that addresses the specific needs of individuals with disabilities
I started sketching new ideas, this time with a strong emphasis on practicality. I considered how each design could be adapted to meet the functional needs of the wearer while still offering a sense of style and individuality.
Week 6
by these two weeks I finalized at least 3 of my garments sketches as well as i got the feedback from my lecturer. Only minor changes were made after i designed some of the garment.
week 7
We visited a senior care facility this week, a trip organized by Dr. Thomas. During our visit, we had the opportunity to speak with caretakers who emphasized the importance of designing clothing that isn’t too different from what elderly individuals or wheelchair users are accustomed to. They mentioned that these groups can be particular about their clothing choices, so it's crucial to create designs that are both familiar and comfortable.
Some of my classmates asked insightful questions related to their specific design topics, which added depth to the discussion. Overall, the trip was incredibly valuable, offering experiences and insights that will stay with me.
In the pattern drafting class later that week, I worked on creating sample blocks for one pair of pants and one skirt. These designs are focused on modest-wear for women who use wheelchairs, aligning with the concepts I’m developing for my project.
WEEK 8(INDEPENDENT WEEK)
WEEK 9
